Looking Forward to the New Semester!

Today is the start of the New Semester at AAU. This is going to be a crazy semester, I can already feel the pressure coming!!! Can you believe this, I already got FIVE e-mail from my Product Design teacher of things we need to do before the class, and it hasn't even started!! ~~~You see the pressure coming?! ~~~Although I know most of you already had started the semester, I want to start my semester off with Five New Semester Resolution!

1. Organize My Schedule- One thing that definitely keeps me on track last semester is having everything planned out. And when I plan I like to be very specific with what and when I'm doing certain things. Since it worked so well for me last time, this semester I want to continue doing that.

2. Eat Healthier - Every year I tell myself that I need to eat healthier, and but I don't know!! When stress hits, food is the way to recover. But this semester, I want to eat more vegetables, I'm not a big salad fan, but a nice turkey sandwhich can do the job. yummy...

3. Keep Track of My Spending -  Well everyone wants to have a fun time here and there, nice lunch or dinner dates, new cute clothes for Spring, but this semester it's all going to change. Aside from the spending that is needed for projects, I want to set a budget for myself, so I don't overspend. Save a bit of morning coffee, can really help!!!

4. Maintain a Positive Attitude - This semester is going to be crazy, and yes, I know it already!!! And I want to allow myself to stress out and everything, but still keeping it positive. Although I don't struggle with this problem a lot, I try not to let myself be negative, and it always has helped me. This semester, I don't want the feedbacks from any of my teachers to stop me from being positive!!! Oh yeah!!!

5. Work Hard, Play Harder -  Collage can be a happy and stressful place at the same time, but I really want to enjoy every last moment that I have. I really want to have fun in my classes, because I really can exprience this once!!

Like every other year, I have already sworn to myself that this one will be different and the difference is to follow my resolutions for a great semester.

Let me know how your semesters been going?

4 Favs from 2017 || Product and Gadgets

When I started my blog, I know that I want to talk about design, simply because I'm a product designer. And in this page, I want to explore different brands that are unique and different. In 2017 so many cool tech product and gadgets had released. Before the feeling of 2017 has totally ended, I want to shard with you 4 product that amazed us in 2017!

Nintendo Switch is one of the biggest releases in the gaming world. While I was a bit late getting my hand on to one, just trying to get your hand one when it first release was a nightmare. The best thing about the switch, I must say it's the Joy-Con and the screen. Being about to switch between TV and gamepad was a great idea. The design is by far my most favourite, because of the smooth feeling when you hold the device, as well as the kickstand in the back of the screen. I could say it's the best gaming system it every release.

When you talk about design, you can never miss Apple. iPhone X is their 10-year anniversary release, which kinda sums up what they have improved over the ten years with iPhone. Personally, not a big fan of the Face ID, but the design is still unbelievable. The edge to edge screen will definitely set some high standards on phone later on. Taking out the iconic home button was a very brave move because it was known for having one button that basically takes you back home from anywhere.

I must say even tho I don't personally own a pair of this it's still one of my favourite design for a "picture taking glasses!!" It's hard to design a wearable that a stylish and technical at the same time, and the Snapchat Spectacles did it. Having both balance circle on each side really bring a weirdness to it. I mean when was the last time you can be weird and cool at the same time!!

Okay, let's not try to get too techy with this, let's talk about real design. The Ember Travel Mug, if you been to Starbucks, you must have seen one of these $150 mugs!! This mug solves all the problem that it has with mug we have out there now. This mug can keep the water or coffee warm for the perfect taste. The design of this mug is so phenomenal, the shape and size is just right. It can fit different kinds of hand whether you have a small hand or a large hand.

That's it guys, all my favourite product that released in 2017. 2018 is going to be another great year for advanced technology and products. There are already bits of rumor here and there. I don't know whats next, but I'm exited!

Appreciate Design || Coffee Thought

Growing up I've always wanted to design something that can help people. For a long time, I didn't know what it was called, and guys I have an excuse, kinda... I lived under a Rock!!! Be honest with you, I have a tiger mom, so having me going into design drove her NUTS!! Anyways back to the topic, designing was a mystery to me, and maybe some of you guys too. But who knew almost everything you have at home is designed by somebody. That to me was Crazy!! Knowing the thought and process of designing a fork that I'm using to eat with, is just Insane!!

For most people, they can look at a product and don't care or recognize the good in it, and the funny thing is I use to be like that! Now that I design my own product, I want people to see, understand my product and say, damn, this is so useful!  So I gather two easy ways that everyone can use to appreciate their everyday product, a lot More!!

Aesthetic... The overall look of a design is very important. Think about Apple product, and why they are so successful. They look NICE!!! Although there are a lot of different factors at goes against design, firms still try to take good care of the overall and the ideal product aesthetic. So pick it up and look around!!!

Problem Solving... Solving a problem is the reason we design. Somehow there has to be a reason that this idea is working, someone has to benefit from this problem. For example an apple slicer, we can slice 8 pieces of apple in a few seconds. YUMMY!! And that's why people buy it, why would they spend 2 minutes cutting out the apple when they can do it in a few seconds! Think about it!

I'm not saying you need to go around the house picking up all the product and do a whole new review about it. Just simply appreciate the product and the design!!

How I started Product Design

Final has hit me hard this semester, but I 'm still enjoying it. So I just think it nice to share with you how I begin this awesome journey!! Industrial Design came to me far later than it should be. I was out for college about two years before I finally figure out what I want. For a long time, I only know that I'm not a working at the office or sitting in front doing lab works kind of a person. I enjoy changing in work environment and be able to work with different kinds of people. So I was very excited when I finally figure it out.

The funny thing is that going into Industrial Design I have no idea what I was doing. In fact, I only know that I came here to learn design, (HAHA) seriously!!! Starting is the hardest thing, I remember wasting so much paper just practising sketching a STRAIGHT LINE!!! (no ruler) Who knew that s straight line could so dame HARD!!! Once you kinda (not) got straight line working "perfectly", you have you sketch a cube out in perspective!!! Well, I was very happy that I'm done with that. XD

Thinking about going into Industrial design, I really am enjoying every bit that it has to offer. I meat a bunch of very nice friends, and finally enjoying the college life!! Now who is ready for Christmas!!!
